Black Honey

Artist information

After only forming mid-way through 2014, Black Honey have quickly become one of the most talked about guitar bands in the UK. Starting out shrouded in mystery the band let the music do the talking, there were no photos, only their TV themed artwork to accompany each track they released. Further adding to the intrigue, instead of issuing a standard press release the band invited fans to text them directly if they wanted to find out more.

After dreamy opener 'Sleep Forever', 60’s psychedelic ‘Teenager’ and grunge rock 'The Taste' the band revealed their debut EP with their final hook laden track ‘Bloodlust’ and the first photo of themselves. To celebrate the band played a sold out secret show in their hometown of Brighton. Over the next few months the band caught the attention of the NME and The Telegraph who both named them as One’s To Watch in 2015, they were also listed in Hype Machine & BBC 6Music’s Most Blogged Top 10 list also picking up radio support from Huw Stephens, BBC Introducing and XFM, most notably Dave
Rowntree who played every track off their EP on his show.

Kicking off 2015 with a bang, Black Honey unveiled their double A single, Spinning Wheel/Madonna. The first 5 records were available via bidding on eBay where each CD sold between £25-32. Both tracks have already been supported by radio with Huw Stephens premiering Spinning Wheel on his Radio One show, and Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart all playing Madonna. The band have also played an XFM session and have had Madonna on the XFM evening playlist with Dave Rowntree (Blur) playing both new tracks on his show.

The band also had an extensive run of dates throughout the spring/summer after support slots to the likes of The Cribs, Superfood and Mini Mansions heading in to a jam packed festival season with the band performing across all the city festivals including Live At Leeds, The Great Escape Festival, Dot to Dot Festival and Liverpool Sound City. In July they headed into Holland for a hugely successful set at the Metropolis Festival and over to Croatia for a slot on the same bill as Clean Bandit and The Vaccines at Croatia Rocks. Other summer highlights included playing on the main stage at Y Not Festival, packed performances at Kendal Calling and Tramlines and finishing off the festival season playing Reading and Leeds on the Festival Republic Stage.

Next up the band are releasing their much anticipated single “Corrine” and heading out onto the road again headlining stages at Norwich Sound And Vision and Dials Festival then revisiting all the towns they came to throughout their summer onslaught, finishing off with their debut headline London show on October 20th and a hometown show at The Hope & Ruin in Brighton on November 5th.
