Dagny

Dagny Dagny Dagny

DAGNY is an artist and songwriter from Tromsø in Northern Norway.
Her parents, both Jazz and Bossa Nova musicians, exposed her to music from a young age. The rhythm of their music is something that stuck with Dagny.

DAGNY moved to the UK in 2012 where she continued to build her live set and started exploring different influences in her music. Surrounding herself with a team of musicians, writers, and producers her sound, while still folk inspired, developed a stronger rhythmic base and started to draw heavily on more electric sounds.
As DAGNY developed new sounds, she continued performing both locally and internationally anywhere she could from intimate audiences as small as 12 people to crowds of over 10,000. She has toured Norway as a solo artist, as well as with her four piece band. In 2013, she went on her first Living Room Tour. Since then she’s been doing annual Living Room Tours bringing her music straight into over one hundred households in Norway, performing to thousands of fans.

In early 2015, DAGNY sold out her first headline show at The Old Queens Head in London. She went on to play at the Isle of Wight Festival and support Bernhoft in Manchester at The Deaf Institute and in London at the beautiful O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire.

In September 2015, DAGNY released her single ‘Backbeat’ with a global radio premier on Beats 1 from Zane Lowe. Overnight it reached the top 10 on iTunes pop charts in Norway which spurred a premier from Ruben on one of Norway’s biggest radio stations, NRK P3. It has since been added to the B-playlist of both NRK P1 and NRK P3.
The single shows a new side of DAGNY with more edge and energy. Line of Best Fit premiered the single online explaining that, “over the newly expansive pop palette on “Backbeat”, she displays the same intuition, moving about effortlessly to craft one of the catchiest choruses of the year.”

In just a few days, the single was #2 on the Hype Machine charts. It was added to the New Music Friday playlist on Spotify and featured on the pop page of iTunes. It made the song of the week by Spotify Norway and reached #18 on the Global Viral Charts. With a tremendous amount of feedback from fans, it has been added to H&M's in store playlist and is going to be used on ASOS's website for their catwalk feature for the next month.

Dagny is gearing up for 2016 with a busy live schedule and plenty of new material to share.
