Artist information
Samuel Ford, a songwriter, hailing from the medieval Sussex cinq port of Rye,
intertwines immediate melodies and literate lyrics with intricate rhythms that
soar from the darkest chasms to atmospheres of uplifting melancholy.
He spent his childhood immersed in music and was a cello player in a local
orchestra until at 15 years old he picked up a guitar and has not looked
back. He also plays double bass and piano/keyboards and writes/arranges/notates all his own music.
Samuel took himself off to Austria after leaving college and spent six months
living there – honing his craft and performing with his cherished Martin guitar
to whatever audiences he could find. At times Samuel has fronted his own
band – but for the moment he is performing as a solo artist. Albeit one who is
more than standard boy with guitar and has graced the stage at such diverse
venues as Los Angeles' The Viper Rooms and London's Shepherds Bush
Empire.
His first home-made record release 'The Storm' was championed by several
influential djs and he's currently preparing for an EP release proper (‘One”) in
May 2015 –around which he will be undertaking a series of UK performances
as well as writing and recording.
Samuel embraces both acoustic and electronic sounds, and on his young
shoulders there rests an older head singing, writing and performing for today
and tomorrow.
