Artist information
The style of piano master and composer XA4 is hard to define. That is because it is unique in it’s kind. Acoustic piano is mixed with electronic extensions and soundscapes created with recorded samples from his old Bechstein grand piano. Influences in his music range from minimal and ambient to classical and electronic.
Xavier Boot, also known as XA4, started to play piano at a young age and soon showed prodigious talent. He studied classical piano at the conservatories of Amsterdam and Düsseldorf and did a master in live electronic music. Xavier won various prizes for playing piano in his home country the Netherlands and he also composed music for prize winning films. Xavier has a Dutch-Indonesian background and gets inspiration from Gamelan music for his compositions. Xavier has performed in virtually all big concert halls in the Netherlands such as Concertgebouw, De Doelen, Muziekgebouw & the Melkweg (where he had his own stage “Xavier Boot & Friends”) and has given concerts in NYC, London, Berlin, Paris, Denmark and Asia.
Xavier released work with Excelsior one of the biggest pop labels in the Netherland and in 2022 signed with the NYC based label Orange Mountain Music. This label is focussed on the music of Philip Glass but also featured world wide known artists such as Allen Ginsberg, Leonard Cohen and Simone Dinnerstein. Xavier’s EP “Glass Gateway” had more than 100.000 streams in the first month XA4 with Philip Glass of its release and was praised in the international press. He is working on his next album.
